Within the Fortress

By Fabrice Poussin

Within the fortress

Cold in the depth of atomic blue, amazon immobile
Hesitant in a gaze of distrust to the newcomer
She sits on the pedestal they once built for her.

Further yet again her soul withdraws behind the walls
Damp, impenetrable as those of ancient prison houses
Her eyes clear as the diamond fashioned with the creation.

No longer does she breathe in a breast dead to the world
Pain has gone from the flesh once home to such joy
Exiled within her own corpse she lives in a distant vault.

A horse of antiquity perhaps would suffice to break down
The shell of ages; perhaps yet the hero's powers are conquered
By the greatness of a goddess in the center of her infinite domain.
