Gloucester Massachusetts

By Tohm Bakelas

Gloucester Massachusetts

there's a cliff in gloucester massachusetts
off atlantic road
that oversees the atlantic ocean
beneath are land mine rocks
crawling with the darkest spiders
cold crystal water rushes in and out
hoping one day to kiss the rocky cliff
hoping to suck the land into itself
i have stood on this cliff twice
i have danced with spiders along the rocks
yet i have never touched the water
at night the lighthouse makes its rounds
and the moon can swallow you whole
i have never felt more peace
than on that cliff.
