Joe Palermo grew up in Addison, Illinois. Upon graduation from the University of Illinois at Chicago, he moved to Japan where he lived and worked for eight years, working for the Japanese government and private industry.
Upon returning to the US, he worked for the Nielsen company in various senior corporate roles focused on global market research. After twenty-five years with Nielsen, he joined Information Resources, Inc (IRI) where he established several global services.
He is the author of No Pianos, Pets or Foreigners! My Life in Japan in the 80s as well as several magazine articles in Nostalgia Magazine, Reminisce, and others.
He is now semi-retired and lives with his wife in the suburbs of Chicago.
