Ebb Tide

By John RC Potter

Ebb Tide

You found me at low tide
when dusk falls on lost souls.
You stepped into the water’s edge
and immersed yourself in my shoals.

I am a lake that beckons to you,
I will accommodate your presence.
Eventually the deeper currents will settle
and you will become a part of my essence.

Look across the glassy surface,
walk across the mirror of my soul.
Give back to me the memory of love
which from me others have stolen.

Rivers change course, oceans lose depth,
sand is lifted from dunes for a time to soar.
The skies may darken with time’s passage,
yet this lake awaits your return to its shore.

Such a moving poem, straight from the heart. Another great poem by a talented author.
