Peek of the Week 087

By Jerry Seeger

Harbor at Killybegs, Republic of Ireland

West of Donegal Town, on the Sliabh Liag peninsula in remote northwestern Ireland, lies the town of Killybegs, one of Ireland's primary fishing ports. On the day after Christmas, even the Cod get a respite, and the fleet lies quietly in the harbor. Heading farther west the roads get smaller, the soil poorer, and English disappears from the road signs, yielding to the older tongue, which is still spoken around the warm fires in the pubs.
