Graveyard Blooms

By Deeya Bhattacharya

Graveyard Blooms

Silence across graveyards
bright and luminous today
candles posted, flicker
shimmer pretending
everything is holistic;
all glances wrapped
in eternity --

flowers primrose, crisp and fresh
acacias alone cheering themselves
the weeds pushed to the far
outgrowths in this never-ending
battle, of life and death, do win

today something's uncomprehending
left behind, dull and dismay
today none's waiting...
silence tiptoes among weedy ways,
winding pouting silence
winks across graves,
all's silent across graves.
