Of Expired Prescriptions
there they are fleeing folly
disease, hunger, hopelessness
elsewhere -- guns and genocides
forced marriages and persecutions
souls expelled from decency and peace
sons and daughters living like foundlings
as bigotry is foisted upon them like expired sedatives
as pretense steals the show from decency and empathy
