dumb luck and pain

By Robin Wyatt Dunn

dumb luck and pain

dumb luck and pain
drain the grain of light from out my face
I'm black and white
-- the shafts and wattles in between the trees --

the wood hums inside the sounds I make inside my head
drumming against the lead
strumming the dead to life

burn the barrier ignite
the day
dying but still inside the sound
of the light
a triptych in deep water
air the color of winter sand

Strange, ephemeral imagery, hard to grasp but then that's the point I think. Quite striking in the lyric mode.
