No Time

By Connie S. Tettenborn

No Time?

Time is a frequent excuse,
or really a lack thereof.
We grumble and mutter our reasons diffuse,
but really when push comes to shove,

Time is what we seem to lose,
relentlessly through the cracks --
Priorities pressure us, bombs to defuse,
but let us review all the facts:

Sleep should not be sacrificed,
if we consider our health.
Between wants and needs concentration is sliced;
The thief of our time comes in stealth.

What grabs our focus today
at home or the world at large?
The muggers on billboards demanding we pay
attention: Who's really in charge?
