Case Unclosed

By John Patrick Robbins

Case Unclosed

He penned them mocking everyone taking glee in the fact that nobody could solve the mystery that he had created killing prostitutes in the streets of Whitechapel.

He penned the letters signing them.

"From Hell."

Nobody ever caught him and thus the rumors with the legend grew.
Some claimed he was a poet.
And his signature matched the Ripper's exactly.

And knowing what miserable pricks writers are it doesn't surprise me in the least.
But as much as I would like to believe this rumor I have to disagree.

For this to be a crime of a poet is not possible.
For these ladies of the night were butchered, not bored to death from a reading.

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but common sense and being an editor dealing with overinflated egos.
Has helped me in the realization of this truth.

The case remains cold as the leftover Thanksgiving turkey and cheap beers in the fridge.

I'm so ready for a career change.
