Ode to the Mediocre

By John Patrick Robbins

Ode To The Mediocre

It is easy to copy and far too difficult to be original these days, without stepping on a few toes.

I have offended many with my climb.
They view me as a joke.

And as for my opinion of those that judge.

I believe it must really suck to be them.

For I am far too busy with my own life to concern myself with yours.

High school is over so think for yourself, comment less and create more.

Anyone can write it's an act.
Anyone can be a selfie-taking Instagram zombie.

And the ass kissing convention is often a crowded room.

Pissing and moaning in publication is great if you want to fit in.

I'd rather stand out and be alone.
Than be counted one amongst the spineless many any day of the week.

I don't need a shoulder to cry on but a refill would be nice.

Ordinary is the death nail to all creative thought.

I am never an outlaw, but I am a rebel to a lost cause.

I pen my truths and never hold back no matter who it offends.

Never search for friends in a room filled with politicians.

To stand your ground takes spine and a willingness to embrace the fact.

Nobody's got your back.
I am my only true friend.

This is why I always drink alone.

To the mindless sheep of the mediocre mindset.
Complain while you can cause all too soon nobody will be listening.
