To the Fullest

By Ndaba Sibanda

To the Fullest

What is it?
Some say it is a game, and we should play it
Some say it is a challenge, and we should face it
Some say it is an opportunity, and we should capture it

What is it?
To think that I have lived with it for this long
But I still don't know it, is a huge puzzle
Some say it is a mystery, an adventure

What is it?
I think it is meant to be lived and loved
To inspire immortality out of temporality
Meaningfulness out of meaninglessness

What if it is a flight?
Think about the fear of flying
Aviophobia
Aerophobia or flight phobia

What is it?
Is it about long life? Short life?
Longevity? Existence or service?
Is it about quality or quantity?

Is it about being haunted by thoughts of mortality?
The fear of losing it? The tearing fear of fear itself?
Is it about being haunted by thoughts of morbidity?
The fear of being affected and infected by the viruses?

It is something of great value, something that galvanises
Us to search for ourselves in its import and its wholeness
Be it a game, a challenge, an opportunity, an adventure, a flight
If we unleash our uniqueness, we will find and cherish its purpose

Like an elevator speech, it is not about its dimensions but impacts
Like a pretty fruit off its tree, it is a precious and prolific gift from God
We must play, face, capture and celebrate it with hilarity, honor and vigor
We must live it to the fullest, we must love it like no other, for life is love
