"Mes de los Muertos"

In the snowfall

By Dharmpal Mahendra Jain

In the snowfall

The sky shivers with twinkling light;
The snow-laden clouds
have a mischievous mood.

Fresh snow arrives like your gossip,
Flying, swirling, and slipping away.

The roofs, lampposts, and stairs,
All in one color;
The birds hum to welcome you.

Amidst the snow,
I fill the sky in palms,
And chase you, the squirrel smiles.

I engrave your name on my mind's canvas,
You come like the wind
And throw snow again.

The tree tells the snowy branches
The snow melts away,
When you dance.

Your sinking footprints are so deep
You descend straight into my heart.
