Some Particulars of Pine
When you saw wet pine,
the pulp churns and drops
to the ground like mush
and you think of patting pulp
between your palms, squeezing,
laying it like papyrus
to dry on the deck.
The next day you rise
and the pulp has whisked away
in the wind, you with black ink,
thoughts of the ancient Nile.
