“Museum Item”

Two sets of Hoodies on display
one like powdered charcoal draped
over a blonde pixie’s derriere
AC chills creep down her shoulders
over a streamlined emerald tank top
rise up shoeless feet and bare legs,
coalescing just below her wasplike waist.

An androgynous brunette’s head pokes
though an orange parka that clings
to his collarbone like a clavicle hanger;
temperate, relaxed, environmentally
copacetic, he allows the hood flouting
an imitation mink padded cowl to center
itself mid-pine like an inverted pyramid.

The couple faced a gateway shrinking,
lined with pointed spears, arranged half circle,
their eyes fixed upon a ceiling piercing arch;
hearts hollowed by fire, alive in its flame
heated their bodies head to toe like cognac
rekindling warmth—sip after sip after sip—
dual curiosity pondered the spike exhibition.
