Big Brother

He could watch me
clean my teeth,
take a shower,
pee, shave,
have breakfast,
get dressed for work.

There are cameras enough
in the house,
on the street,
to capture
everything I do.

My nose scratching,
sneezes,
hugs and kisses,
are captured digitally
and stored.

But I doubt
that I’m in
Big Brother’s purview.
My life is so routine,
so unthreatening.

I am a man of no importance.
I am both relieved
and insulted
by that.
