Dear Biker Ed;
As I was driving home the other eve I was behind a ruffian, errr, biker and kept seeing him stick is left hand up from time to time. I then realized that he was doing this whenever he was crossing paths with another ruffian, err, biker heading in the opposite direction. Do you guys know all the other bikers out there?
No. We don't. I refer you to the Biker Ed 01, in particular the section that states:
Yes, I do know several bikers from around the country. I highly doubt that your college roommate's second cousin who once kissed someone's older brother who saw a dog crossing the street who once knew this guy that once walked into a bike store is someone that I know.
But I will go ahead and clarify what you witnessed. Much like the Biker Bell tale indicates, bikers are loyal to fellow bikers. The left hand extension or wave is to let them know that they have been seen. That the path is clear and that we wish each other well. It is as simple as that. We are a superstitious lot and most believe deeply in karma and only wish to impart that to each other.
