This is an oil on canvas painting of Babe (the big dark chap) and Howie. At the time of the painting, Howie was still very much a clueless pup, and Babe was his teacher and guardian. Although the painting is simple, I thought it captured their personalities well. Babe has the toothy hardware of a crocodile, a forbidding look, but a generous heart. He makes every attempt to Get Things Done. Howie tends to be on the timid side, but is very trusting and sweet. He looks to Babe to see how he's supposed to react to new situations. "Wow," says Howie in this picture, "I never knew the world had so many things in it!" Babe replies, "Stick close, kid, and I'll show you where they keep the potato chips."
