Yes, utterly different coloring technique. I like the way I'm able to execute the "modeling" with my pencil sketches (just learned that term -- convey 3D shape), but I'm still crap for expressing that in the inking and coloring stages. This color technique lets a little more of the original pencils show through, tho that's more obvious at the 600 dpi res I color them in than the 72 they get displayed at. And of course I haven't mastered even a single one of the aforementioned techniques, but what the hell. :P You don't get there unless you put in the miles practicing.
That's okay. Whatever mojo I cranked out was good enough to convey the right facial expressions. Hazz gets so giddy over arcane lore. He was perfect this week.
