A Little Exercise

Close your eyes.
Now tell me what proof you have
of the current year,
of your present age,
of your present location.

Perhaps some sound
an appliance, perhaps,
will provide a clue.
Your body itself
might provide others
And you might ask,
where else would I be?

But by considering the alternatives:
How far back
we can push a plausible date.
How young we can set ourselves.
How varied our potential locale;
we unlock a little door
into our own reality.
