Old Man

By Sunil Sharma

Old Man

He remained till the end---
That only tree on the corner of the compound
occupied by cars and bikes; an occasional tricycle or a bicycle

giving succor, breeze
and cool shade
in summers and rains

a soothing presence,
a silent protector always

but---never noticed.
