Out of the Darkest Jungle
You promised me a dove,
but you gave me a snake instead.
I thought I'd happily dance in your palace,
but you brought me into the darkest jungle instead.
I expected a crown of pearls and diamonds,
but you bound me in tarnished chains.
You fed me with curses and unkind words,
drowned me in the ocean of lies,
and caused me thousands of unforgettable nightmares;
you laughed at my tears,
rejoiced in my sorrows,
and wept in my joy.
As I'm departing in this dark jungle soundlessly,
let me leave your next woman this warning:
"DO NOT STAY LONGER; HE IS FLAME HIMSELF.
THOUGH A SWEET LAMB OUTSIDE, HE IS AN EVIL WOLF INSIDE."
