She slides these brown plastic extensions
over the back of her glasses.
To stop them from rubbing against her ears
and breaking the skin.
I have always had perfect vision.

Some things follow you along.
Like lid-sealed tupperware leftovers.
With all that condensation over your hand
once opened up.
I have never required glasses
or any other scientific enhancement.
When half the football team was on steroids,
I was doing push ups in my parent's
unfinished basement.
Unfamiliar with nine tenths of the phonebook.
My sweat glands acting out.
Playing long ball in a physical sense.
Growing into myself as marriages failed
and everyone did nothing but grow bitter
while I never forgot my young
contagious smiling self.
