Lockdown
Sparrows know its walls, switches and fan blades
collect gossamer straws and sticks
song filled afternoons,
an aging lamppost stands alone, shops locked for weeks
the cargo plane soars up high, rising in crescendo.
a cluster of tall trees wait for sleep,
The evening rolls out, minutes crumble, flowers blossom
lean fingers tap on the glass panes
handshakes are denied by sealed iron door,
an old man's cough worsens
beds, monitors, phones, masks, blur the reality.
Count the moment one by one
I do not have to go anywhere in lockdown
closing my eyes tighter, I can see the new world
a world that it belongs to us is breathing close.
