The Honey Bird Lullabye

"Honey bird, honey bird, Nkoviyo's honey bird..."

The Honey Bird Lullaby

Honey bird, honey bird
Nkoviyo's honey bird
What's in your mouth?
"I'm carrying a child's
Fermented milk."

Where're you taking
The fermented milk to?
"To KoZancenga
In the backyard,
The One-who-begs a bit"
"Whose backyard?"
It's KoZancenga's brother
When I entered I saw a bit

"Whose little milk was it?"
It belonged to the groom
And his team members

"When did they arrive?"
They arrived yesterday
"What did you slaughter for them?"
Well, I slaughtered a lark,
But alas they snubbed it
And went for a hippo!!
For it's meaty and huge!
They chomped it like crazy ...
They ate their fill with Ntembuzane
Ntembuzane 'ntembuzaned' it
Chomp! Chomp! Munch! Munch!
Ggi! Gqi! Ggi! Right in the backyard!!
