Move In Day

By Fabrice Poussin

Move in Day

Armed with rolled up images of current superheroes
carrying loads made for mechanical robots
with an uncertain gait they are careful
not to make eternal marks on those summer tans.

Excitement runs wild in those loud clamors of joy
sadness prevails in those who wonder of the present
why are they alone on this isolated land
surrounded by strangers so far away from the familiar hearth?

This strange event seals the beginning of a lifetime
so simple as they break away from the life cord
a sense of safety prefabricated with the generations
evaporates in instantaneous embraces.

Unaware of a future that is sure to come
they will fall into their dreams for a few recalcitrant days
terrified they may not live another dawn
poor children of a humanity desperate for a meaning.

Behind the bricks of those neoclassical prisons
existences will be defined by those incredible hours
tomorrow they will awaken with babes in their arms
remember four years that perhaps never were.
