Dreaming of a Renewal

By Pranab Ghosh

Dreaming of a Renewal

All the symmetries in the world
Are dashed into rubbles

Asymmetry rules the roost
Lies scattered. The petals
Of roses strewn by the
Roadside; heart burns.

The bushes and shrubs are
Everywhere, with the garden

LOST

Banished souls dance in
Jubilation of destruction

Merriment gives way to boredom
Agony and tears

Truth butchered, life loses
Its mission.

Empty words swirl in the
Head; empty love grows

Like a money plant, crawling
Up the grills in the verandah

A bird chirps, no music
Though for the ears

A crow comes and sits
On the electric wire

A swallow tries to find
A happy prince

Then they are gone.
Lonely wire hangs

Balance of life broken
Into shreds

Heresy carries bodies
Of people alive
And dead long ago!

All in the name of

LOVE!

And the dead pine
In absolute helplessness

Morbid emotions wreck
The veins and blood spills

On the pavement; men
And women die; hungry children

Beg on footpath; billboards
New, more attractive, are put up

But the skyline of the city
Has lost its pristine glory

Empty promises are made
To the masses.

Hunger dominates discourse
And life hits a hump on

The road and comes to a
STANDSTILL.

Urge drives you and
Seeks a mission renewed

Pangs after you dream
Of a renewal!
