Pills and penguins
Penguins tiptoe around their neighbors' eggs warily
as if a chimera might come out from within
to gird their necks and lick the grease
from off their beaks.
They look like doctors fattened on drugs and bills
who dive into the mad men's minds
and in the cardiopatic's hearts
to count their pills,
to stare at the fat in their blood,
pinching their neurons, but not too hard
while seeking for real methods of healing,
sometimes making the pulpy livers grow bigger
when they lay their mental eggs on the ground
for you to walk upon and around.
It's both fascinating and troubling
because penguins are wild animals
thus, one shouldn't be baffled
if a tear goes down at the end of the day.
