A King's Death

By Fabrice Poussin

A King’s Death

It may have been an hour of thunder upon the realm
a moment of fierce warring between those medieval knights
but the air was calm carried by a balmy summer bliss.

The time was far removed for armors and lances
a glorious battle to decide the valor of great warriors
perhaps this king had left his heart for glory.

A gentle afternoon for the innocents of the domain
the wanderer encountered the wounded stag
its eyes lowered in humility yet joyful for a breath.

A warm peace to soon be shattered by a strange thunder
electricity made of memories too ancient to be known
and this lord of the zenith fell to the earth in a flash.

Dismembered he laid on the grassy land
charred on its noble wings, so quiet now
its eyes shut to the highest waves.
