The Piker Press Poetry Open is accepting submissions through March
31. Winners will be announced in April during National Poetry Month.
All types of poetry are eligible - rhymed or unrhymed, serious or humorous. The members of the judging committee have markedly different preferences, so the more styles of poetry that are entered, the better chance you have of seeing an editorial catfight.
There have been some questions about the details of the contest, to wit:
Q: May I submit more than one poem?
A: Two or three poems, sure, especially if they are different styles. A haiku series, okay. A complete chapbook, no. Feel free to submit some of those as non-contest entries in the Piker Press, though.
Q: May I submit a previously published poems?
A: As long as you retain the rights to the poem (for example, if it was published on your personal web site), yes. Poems previously published in the Piker Press are not eligible. (Sorry, boss.)
Think you can't write poetry? The "Poetry for Pikers" series wlll teach you many types of poetry with easy-to-follow instructions.
