"Mes de los Muertos"

This man's body has no history

By Abigail George

This man's body has no history

The waves silence
you now. Wasn't I good to you?
You promised me
a cassette player
once (when they still existed). Moved away.
Married an Indian girl from Lenasia South.
Salt and light out.
The day's mistress.
Cool propaganda. The sky is on fire.
Flames licking the nape of my neck.
The sand is warm.
At first under my feet.
Then wet when the
Ocean has washed it
clean. Inside I feel
raw, set free. I love
you. I loved you.
Then and now this is my song.
Exploding into view.
