Reflections from the Newsreel 05: The Final Tour
They have come marked with scars,
battle-tested soldiers, veterans.
Fought for country against oppression,
in foreign lands far from home.
White, Black, Brown, Yellow,
mixed colors and creeds united
against a common foe -- one last time.
From all over they descend,
strangers and comrades in arms,
now fighting the government
that has gone horribly wrong.
Another treaty has been broken,
recurring theme in time,
like a record it revolves,
as Natives fight white lies.
Pipeline, oil, the great god on high,
has more rights than people
who want to drink and not die.
After a hundred treaties broken,
enough is enough.
The warriors now defend,
human shields for protest.
Let them stand against dogs,
armored cars and machine guns.
May they hold against the fray
as water hoses flay their skin.
No matter how they are beaten,
let their silent protest scream resolve.
Let the world see a last stand
against tyranny at home.
